December 10th 2020 letter from the Mayor
• This weeks’ positive case count jumped 53% over last week's.
• December 7th, 2020 marked the 79th anniversary of Pearl Harbor where 2400 souls died. On December 8th, 2020 COVID-19 surpassed that historic number by nearly 200 lives.
• Even more vigilance is now required as we slowly move toward the distribution of the vaccine. During the months ahead we still need to wear masks, keep a social distance, and wash our hands to protect our families and community.

April 8th, 2020 Governor Brian P. Kemp announced plans to extend Georgia’s public health state of emergency through May 13, 2020
Georgia’s shelter-in-place order will also be extended through the end of April, the governor announced Wednesday afternoon. The news of the extension was shared hours after the governor renewed a public health emergency declaration.

Elected Officials Pass Ordinance Declaring a State of Emergency in the City
• Urges residents to shelter in place as much as possible.
• Requests that residents abide by a voluntary curfew beginning at 9:00 p.m. each night and ending at 6:00 a.m.
• Limits restaurants to curbside and delivery.
• Assigns misdemeanor status to violating the public closure of the beach, playground, and public buildings.

Keep Our Sanitation Workers Safe
Dekalb County sanitation is one of the few services that can’t be operated remotely. Please protect these workers by bagging all your trash. This is the most effective way to help keep them safe.

Playground Equipment Closed
In the interest public health the city has closed the playground equipment. We appreciate your cooperation.

Pine Lake Closings
In the interest of public safety and the well-being of our employees and visitors to our City, the following activities will be suspended. Please keep in mind that this is a fluid situation and could change rapidly. All government operations will be evaluated and adjustments will be made based on the present situation.
Court - We will not have court for the next two weeks beginning with the March 19, 2020 court date.
Administration - City Hall will be closed to the public and staff will work remotely through the end of the month, at which time we will re-evaluate.
We have worked with our staff to prepare for this possibility and we are confident that our city will continue to run smoothly.

Information from Dekalb County
By now we all know to go to the CDC website for information on COVID-19, but for Pine Lakers, it will likely be the Dekalb County Health Department who will be making decisions regarding care and testing. On March 11th the county held a COVID-19 Town Hall. You can watch it in its entirety at the Dekalb County COVID-19 page. Below are a few highlights:
• If you are having a medical emergency call 911
• If you have flu like symptoms or not feeling well, then call your primary physician.
• If you do not have a primary physician, then CALL the emergency room at your local hospital. Do not go there without calling first. They will ask you questions and give you specific directions. They do not want to overwhelm the hospital with people that should not be there.
• If you have a child that attends a Dekalb County School that needs food or additional medical services (non-emergency related) then call your school and ask for the principal.
• If the principal cannot help you then go to https://www.dekalbschoolsga.org/superintendent/regional-superintendents/ and find your school's regional superintendent.
• If you do not get help, there then email supt@dekalbschoolsga.org

Suspension of Facility Rentals
Pine Lake has suspended rental of the Beach House and Club House to the public, both resident and non-resident. We will revisit this policy monthly until it is determined to be unnecessary.
